Garmin motorcycle mount July 18, 2010 M. Hundley (Halifax, VA) I am basing my review on the appearance and fit of the GPS unit on the mount; I have not yet mounted it on my motorcycle. I believe, though, that it will very satisfactorily do the job.
good for casual rides July 14, 2010 B. Lee (new york) I bought this for my Garmin Nuvi 205. It holds it alright if you ride casually, under 15mph. Go over 15mph, and hit a slight bump see your Nuvi pop and take flight. The strip mechanism also becomes loose, after about 100 miles of riding, the teeth doesn't hold the strip tight anymore. I give it 3 stars, great for casual riding on flat surfaces.
Works like it is supposed to July 8, 2010 Mike Zuro I was surprised at how well this works for the price. I was looking at products that cost 3-4 times as much, but this is great. The pivot ball locks into place which is great because of vibrations and wind. The strap is secure and is very easy to install/remove. This is nice so that when you are not using the product it can be stored to keep the motorcycle clean looking and not cluttered. I highly recommend this for Garmin devices.
Great for both a motorcycle and mountain bike July 7, 2010 Stirfry (Roscommon, MI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used this mount on a recent 225 mile ride to northern Michigan on a Kawasaki dual purpose motorcycle. This trip was on paved roads where the speed limits were 60 mph and below. This mount performed flawlessly. I mounted it on the left handlebar at about the same angle as my instrument cluster. To help keep the mount in place, I put a single layer of duct tape around the handlebar under the mount. The duct tape is a tackier surface than the handlebar and gives the rubber on the mount something to grip on to. I learned this trick from devices I have mounted on my mountain bike. Pulling the strap extra tight and then locking the one ball joint in place, the other ball joint allows some movement of the GPS to adjust for glare. On the entire trip to northern Michigan and back, the mount and the GPS did not budge. It was awesome. If you've ever traveled Michigan roads, you know that there are some parts where the pavement is buckled and you can get some pretty jarring hits that send you up off the motorcycle saddle. None of these affected this mount. I was so impressed, that I am ordering another one for my mountain bike.
Cheap materials July 4, 2010 nautiwood 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Received the mount and tried to install on my bike. The clamping lever just broke off while trying to secure the mount. Didn't even press hard. I have it tied on with a wire tie, but it doesn't look very good. The plastic was just flimsy and not durable enough for the rugged rides a motorcycle can give, even if it had survived the install. I recommend trying a different mount and only try this one if you are handy enough to try and make it work with wire ties or something else.
