5 out of 5 stars Garmin 5 inch Carrying Case Review   July 26, 2010
Amazon Buyer
I love my Garmin 5-Inch Carrying Case (Black). The Garmin fits in the case perfectly. There is a cut-out for the screen so you can see it when it's opened, however, the screen is protected when it's closed. Great quality and a great buy!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Carrying Case I Could Find   July 25, 2010

I looked at a couple different brands of cases for my 1490T GPS and decided on this one because of a couple of reviews I read and the description of how it was made. It's made out of leather and well stiched, with sufficient padding. The flap has a magnetic closure to keep the unit from sliding out. When the flap is open there is a cutout such that you can view the screen when the GPS is used while walking. There is a hole on one side, I think it is used for connecting a power cord for some other model. One of the reviews I read stated the the person put a hole in the location of where the connector attaches to the back of the unit and took it to a shoe maker to stich sround the hole to make it look as if done at the factory. Since my GPS gets warm while being charged I would prefer not to have it in the case. The case how ever has no provision to attach to ones belt but could be put in a fanny pack if your walking around site seeing. I'm completely satified with mine.

Great leather case to protect my GPS when it is not in the holder on my Beemer. The case has a clear plastic cover over the inside pocket if one wants to use the GPS while still in the case.

Top quality construction with a very nice snap cover.

As others have commented, a quality case for any 5 inch screen. Construction, fit and appearance all top notch.

My only negative, is the cutout on one side of the case as others have mentioned, serves no apparent use, at least for my 1490t. Maybe for a
different model it has some use. The hole is in the wrong spot for the microsd card or for charging. The opening for the screen is a nice feature if you were to use your
GPS in pedestrian mode, although in my experience with my 1490t, the battery lasts a measily 2 hours at best.

A good case and would buy again.

The case is very sturdy....and well made....When you open the case the face of the gps is exposed. I think the case should not have had an area where the screen is exposed...If your ok with that it's good. None of the photo's show the case open, that i found.
